The Evolution of the Web and Its Future for Learning
| Presenter: Levy Prukpitikul
November 17, 2011 |
You couldn’t live without it now. This is because the World Wide Web has forever impacted the game of life. As with previous technological breakthroughs, the Web had its nascent beginnings. What began as a military and academic exercise has now permeated virtually all spheres of public and personal life. And while the Web, at its core, is about information for the masses, it, too, has evolved and developed into a more mature ecosystem. The Web is now in its third stage of existence—and already progressing its way into a fourth stage. This presentation will provide you with an oracle’s view of the Web—where the road began, where the road intersects with learning, and where the road is headed in the future. |

Increasing Interactivity in Webinars
| Everyone agrees that interactivity is important in Webinars—and most people proceed to sell some expensive technological tool. In contrast, Thiagi wants to share a set of cheap—but not tacky—principles and procedures that increase and improve interactivity. Firmly based on his conviction that true interactivity is in your mind and not in your mouse, Thiagi’s techniques are directly related to the instructional outcomes rather than to the speed of mouse-button clicks. The tested techniques explored in this Webinar include pair work, poll and predict, open questions, interactive fiction, facilitated follow up, and jolts. These techniques are platform independent and can be used with the least expensive tools. Learn through participation, and discover how the right interactivity will involve your learners in memorable and fun learning events. This is one hour you won’t want to miss! |

Hello – just curious if the list of past webinars might be available soon. I’m interested in the one held 3/17/2010 on Captivate, Articulate, and ProForma/Unison.
Thanks,
Heather
Heather,
The Web team has been working on the older archived sessions. We encountered difficulties with our older recordings as they did not transfer well to our new site. We have just identified two shopping cart plugins that we’ll be discussing at the upcoming STC Annual Conference to decide which one we want to install. Following that, we will get up the seminars that we can and add the older ones as we repair them.
This probably won’t be complete until the end of May. Hang in there a bit longer.
