We are happy to announce that we are holding a student article writing competition this fall. All submitters will receive feedback about their articles. The best of show entry will be awarded a 2024 STC Student Membership and a 2024 IDL SIG Membership and have their article published in IDeaL’s 2024 first quarter newsletter. This online publication can be linked in the author’s resume and/or website. Other entries may be invited to have their articles published in the newsletter throughout 2024. Submitters keep copyright to their work.

Welcome to the last half of 2023. IDL SIG activity usually slows a little in summer, but we will host several social events. Before I discuss those, I will share my Summit 2023 feedback.

Good news! You have more time to submit an article to the IDL Student Article Competition. We have extended the deadline to Monday, June 19. We will publish the two best essays in the third quarter issue of IDL’s newsletter, IDeaL: Design for Learning.
We hope this extension will encourage potential entrants to take part. We are asking technical communication and instructional design educators to encourage their students to submit an article based on their recent class work.
