News about our volunteers

Newsletter update
The IDL SIG welcomes two new newsletter co-editors, James Martin and Mellissa Ruryk. They are already working on 2022’s first quarter edition of the award-winning IDeaL newsletter. Paul Scott served as newsletter editor from 2020 through 2021; his thoughtful writing and editing expertise took us through unprecedented times. Thank you, Paul, and best of luck with your future endeavors!

By the way, do you have any IDL newsletter articles that you’d like to submit? If so, please contact our editors at newsletter@stcidlsig.org.

Volunteer opportunity
With Mellissa’s lateral move to co-edit the newsletter, the Student Outreach Article-writing Competition chair is vacant. This position comes with a fully-detailed manual that describes every part of the role. Consider volunteering for a new challenge this year. (The position requires attending monthly leadership meetings and overseeing the competition (4-6 hours x 2 months) twice per year.)

Other volunteer updates
Anita Matechuk, our former secretary, is now our volunteer coordinator. With the IDL SIG for barely a year, Anita comes to the position with insight on what volunteers have to offer and where to place their energies through her outstanding work as student liaison. Want to find out more? Ask Anita at volunteers@stcidlsig.org.
Ruth-Anne Klassen to the position of secretary. Our former secretary tutored her in taking minutes for our leadership team. Ruth-Anne is a familiar face at our First Fridays @ 5 and remains a student liaison of the SIG.
Marcia Shannon, our past manager and volunteer-at-large, has stepped up to fill the membership manager role. Marcia has many talents, and she’s especially adept at wrangling our membership roster (spreadsheet). Mailing lists will be updated handily!
